Bit of undercoat showing
Interesting for the collector

I've an IE standard 5210 that went exactly like that after a few months in the sun. It happened on the sun facing side and end only.

Killing some time on a wet August afternoon and I found this letter from the late Kevin Hutchinson
He traded as Abbey Models and was one of the first dealers to supply MM/Lima products
Kevin used to attend the Clontarf shows back in the day with his lovely wife Catherine
Anyway have a look at some of the products that were being advertised at the time, March 2001
And have a look at the prices!

L105501 became L105500X5, River Tolka set
L105502 never made it out of Italy, unfortunately
L149437 made it out, the River Bandon set
L149438 No show.
L149439 Escaped as L305340(#7403) This number was used on the original Galway set of coaches.
L149440 Didn't make it out. Pity a 2 pack of NIR Mk2's including a dining car
L204790 The class leader, #201 River Shannon
L205018 #217 River Flesk
L205019 #206 River Liffey
L205021 #208 River Lagan
L205022 #208 NIR Blue
L205023 #209 NIR Blue

Trouble at Chateau Foxfield Troops!
Last night over my beans on toast Granny Bracken announced that she would be hanging up her broom next year and to this effect she would like one of her bedrooms back for herself, the cheek of her!
To this effect I will be reducing my pile over the next few months. Most of the pieces I will be offloading are mint, most have never been unboxed and as can be seen some are still in the box that they were delivered to me in.

First things to go will be items that there are 3 of, so the early Lima sets some 141's and some 201's
I would suggest that these are more suitable for collectors than runners but if there is any interest from any collectors I would like to ee them facilitated first
Prices will be on the high side, and I will have them shortly
Drop me a PM if you are interested in anything

PS Open to serious offers on the Lima storage box's!!!
😷😪😪

Picked up these older LIMA Irish bits over the weekend
The yellow labelled items are of particular interest to me
Extra coaches and loco for the Lima Technology L106300X2 set (Page 10 of this thread)
Also the orange coloured boxes do not have the later 30xxxx prefix of the box below them

And then there was this, no makers name, its HO and looks like EFSI

Solved a long outstanding problem this evening
Have to thin out the collection as I am running out of shelf space so I went through some of my Lima sets
149801 is a strange set, a Mk 2 (5201), a Mk 3 (7115) and a Mk 3 Restaurant (7411)
So I check one of the other sets and I find that it has a Mk 2 & 2 Mk 3's, no Restaurant
However when I checked the Mk 3's I found that one was numbered 7411 the same as the restaurant
I had come across a couple of these Mk 3's unboxed over the years and now I know where they came from, a factory error in Italy all those years ago.

Another quandary solved due to Covidlockdown
LIMA 305306 / 305307 Mk 2d coach
Most OO Gauge LIMA boxes carry a Suffix W, which indicates they have OO Gauge bogies and couplings, not that the item itself is actually OO gauge
Looking at the above boxed coach I see that it has an orange roof
LIMA 305306W  Coach
This coach has a Black roof
305307W, this coach is buried in one of the display cabinets and will take a small army to find!

Problem solved!

Why were different types  of coaches in the same pack? I doubt a factory error.

Lima offered this set to MM, he took it thinking it was a set that would have run together, remember at the time he was a retailer, not the font of knowledge he is now!
He got some stick when the set became available and I think that set him on the path to make the current series of finely detailed MM models we see today.

I don't think it's mentioned here, but the 'Irish Freight' set Hornby released in 1999, was there any particular story behind that? Found the box off it the other day and got me thinking. I don't think it was listed in the catalogue from memory, my one came from the Killarney Model Railway shop.

Content wise it was a re-liverying of a UK soft drink themed 'Industrial Freight' set out at the same time.
