  1. Lima a class 215 running rough

Hi, Here is all you need to know about servicing a lima motor. Otherwise you can buy a remotoring kit. These in my experience have very mixed results. http://www.hakanpaa.net/susumotor_en.htm
  2. Loco Repair Needed

Morning, Does anyone here do a repair service or would be interested in looking at a loco for me, a paying gig of course. I have a rivarossi 4-6-4 that needs attention. The motor is ok, but the pick ups in the tender are not always supplying power to the motor. I can't figure it out. Thanks.
  3. GM-EMD Locos

Hi, Has anyone repainted any American GM-EMD locos into Irish colours over the years,I know some people have repainted switchers to look like a 121. I have and SD9 lying idle that I might paint in yankie grey with yellow snails just for fun. Would be a fairly easy job I reckon. Anyone?
  4. Removing Paint

I'm sure this has been answered before so my apologies. I've sprayed something with yellow motor paint and have made a balls of it (an inspection car type thing). I have tried nail polish remover, white spirit and cillit bang but the paint seem to be made of Kryptonite and won't budge. Any suggestions? Cheers.
  5. Fifty Shades

Nice pic from Dunsandle at the weekend. Anyone got a paint scraper handy?
  6. Narrow Gauge Livery

Hi, Forgive if this has been covered before. Did any of the narrow gauge loco's that wound up being operated by CIE ever bare the snail? What was the colour scheme? I know some the coaches did. Cheers
  7. Storage Solution

Cheap bit of moulding makes for a ready made storage shelf or elevated railway even?? Happy Days.
  8. Grand Hibernian on a Budget

Old Lima 201 that has been hanging around like a bad smell for years. I bought it and it was hand weathered with brown enamel - I don't feel too bad about stripping and respraying. (Dave look away) Plan is to re-motor and give it the Belmond treatment. MK3's and decals are on the way also. Inspiration from this month's model rail.
  9. Anyone from this parish in this video http://www.rte.ie/archives/2016/1024/826447-model-railway-exhibition/
  10. Has anyone ever bought from alibaba. Live steam loco here that would look lovely in the garden. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Model-Train-ho-scale-Live-Steam-butane-fired-steam-driven-machine-aesthetic-Train-Free-Shipping/32533665062.html?spm=2114.10010108.1000013.6.cVjoUb&scm=1007.13339.33317.0&pvid=ca7daef9-33ce-4957-8951-3ec862c7076b&tpp=1
  11. Beautiful backdrop in Dingle for sale. 7ft x 1ft approx. Never used. High resolution images. PVC foam - board, rigid. 50euros to good home. I don't think this can be posted unless I could get a very long envelope. So collection may be required.
  12. Hi, For sale - hornby foam underlay - used once briefly. In VGC. I think this was 4 or 5 roles orginally. 35europes inc postage to the lucky buyer!
  13. Hi Guys, Here is a short film I made recently featuring a bit of Dunsandle Railway station and drone footage.
  14. This is what happens when you find a dapol deltic kit and a chassis in your box of random stuff and you are trying to avoid the pub. This will be my freelance irish "Deltic". Good Lord.
  15. Curved Points Question

Hi Guys, Is there anyone that does a curved point at radius 1. What I mean is something with the same radius as a hornby R605. Hornby do curved points put only from 2nd to 3rd radius. Is there such a thing as a curved point turning inwards at radius one. I have 5 long sidings on my layout and such a thing would allow me to have another long one. My layout is just using sectional curves from 1st to 4rth radius. Thanks.
